Yanni Design Studio has designed décor for countless amounts of events, but it’s not every day that we get a chance to design for someone that’s in Chicago’s events industry. After working with us on numerous events, Angelina, a wedding coordinator and former owner of Le Spose Di Angela, came to us to design her wedding!
“Shari [YDS designer] is the best! [I] worked with her for years (as a wedding coordinator) and we planned tons of weddings together! It was so important for me to feel like “a bride” and that our reception was “mine”. I’ve helped plan over 200 weddings, so I didn’t want to see anything I’ve done before,” said Angela Santoro-Castelli.
Angelina and her husband Orazio Castello said their “I do’s” at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, where they followed up with dinner and dancing at Intercontinental Chicago. Designing a wedding for an event planner, we knew this day would be something unforgettable.
“Our reception decor in the grand ballroom was unbelievable! My husband and I kept saying, ‘I can’t believe this is our celebration! Breathtaking!'”
Their reception décor was filled with glamorous and sophisticated attributes, ranging from grand crystal candelabras to high floral centerpieces. Lush white phaleanopsis orchid floral (the brides fav.) was accented with ornate golden candlelight collections flooding the ballroom with an intimate and enchanting ambiance for the bride, groom and guests.
“Our decor was a perfect mix of old world Versace and modern American twist! Just like me and my husband, Orazio. He is from South Italy and loves gold! As do I!”
We can’t take full credit for the entire wedding day décor. Angelina’s friend, Becky, convinced her to incorporate petite personal floral pieces and ceremony pew décor into their special day.
“I wasn’t going to do anything and she convinced me at the last minute to do a little something. Our lady of Pompeii is a beautiful shrine, so I wanted to focus on that, but she did simple pew accents and a cluster of blush peonies (my favorite as well) with a few white phaleonopsis orchids for my girls. The groomsmen wore crystal broaches!”
Angelina’s last official wedding season was Fall 2016! She told us the incredible news that she is moving to Italy, where her husband, Orazio is from. How exciting is that?! They plan on having another wedding reception in Italy this August. We definitely can’t wait to see even more incredible photos from Italy.
